The Museu Nacional de Belas Artes (MNBA) is one of Brazil's principal art museums, housed in the former Escola Nacional de Belas Artes building beside Cinelândia in central Rio. Designed by Spanish architect Adolfo Morales de los Ríos and inaugurated in 1908, the eclectic landmark combines a French Renaissance-inspired main façade with classical and other European references. The museum was established in 1937 and opened in 1938. Its collection grew from works brought by the French Artistic Mission of 1816, works by members of the Mission, and the royal collection assembled by João VI, tracing Brazilian visual art from its origins to the present. The MNBA is currently partially open while restoration work continues; check the official museum page for the exhibitions and rooms available before visiting.

    In the first episode, Dr. Albieri imagines a grand public ceremony celebrating his scientific achievements. The dreamlike sequence was filmed in the sculpture gallery of the Museu Nacional de Belas Artes, whose long vaulted hall, statues and red wall niches form the ceremonial setting.
